Do children understand death?

My 2 year old sure seems to...She understands that jake is no longer with us.

I play the song *only sleep by Star Fu*king hipsters* and

she tells me its "Jakes" song.
When we go outside she looks up at the sky and asks

jake how he is.It brings a tear to my eye.

She has a stuffed monkey we got her for V~Day and his name is Jake.

So to my amazment i wonder if she understands.....

Its been 8 very long months,my heart is still heavy and i miss you more and more with

each day that passes.But i know your in a better place!
